The ground-mounted photovoltaic system at Groningen Airport Eelde has a capacity of 21.8 MWp - making the international airport a pioneer in 2019. The park was divided into three fields. In addition, extensive safety requirements had to be met for the construction of a ground-mounted system on an airport site.

A total of 63,196 solar modules were installed between the runway, taxiways and terminal, which, with a capacity of 21.8 MWp, provide electricity to around 6,200 average Dutch households.
